About the Company

This role is to join an independent engineering consultancy practicing within the Energy and Building Services Engineering sectors of the built environment.


They work on challenging and interesting projects with a portfolio that includes multi-residential, high end residential, commercial office, mixed-use, education and leisure.


Reporting to directly to the CEO this opportunity is for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a close-knit team to develop their project management experience of leading MEP projects. The successful candidate will support the operation of the business to assist in the overall delivery of mechanical workload.

About the Role

  • Design of mechanical services systems.

  • Use of design software to prepare calculations and designs.

  • Preparation of specifications and equipment schedules.

  • Preparation/marking up of drawings.

  • Interface with third parties and clients in a professional manner that enhances.

  • Understand and keep up to date with technical and legislative progress.

  • Establishes and nurtures client relationships and identifies additional opportunities with client base.

  • Assists in preparation of fee proposals and marketing material for client and B2B presentations.

  • Typically carrying out the Project Manager role and is the main client contact for projects.

  • Provides a mentoring role to more junior staff.

Requirements

  • Successfully completed a Degree or Master’s Degree in either Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a similar related field.

  • Completed circa 8 years with either a building services consultancy or design contractor.

  • Experienced in the use of industry recognised design software packages such as Cymap, EDSL TAS and / or Hevacomp or equivalent.

  • Have an in-depth and holistic understanding of building services design and development.

  • Knowledge of design of public health and drainage systems.

  • General knowledge of Sustainability measures e.g. renewable energy, BREEAM, WELL, LEED, NABERS etc.

  • Use of AutoCAD to prepare engineering drawings for external issue.

  • Experience of using, or a keen interest in Revit MEP/BIM software modelling or using BIM Collaborate.

  • Chartership or a desire to progress their career towards professional qualification.

  • Desire to improve project management skills to successfully deliver complex projects.
