About the Role

  • Working as part of a design team delivering detailed design. 

  • Liaising closely with other professionals, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors of in-house and external project teams. 

  • Preparing technical specifications and schedules and design development reports. 

  • Work with and have an appreciation of the integration of other construction professionals’ requirements for the project. 

  • Ensure that all work under your control is undertaken to relevant and applicable UK and EU regulations, and design guides. 

  • Develop and produce reports, specifications, guidance notes and general correspondence ensuring quality and technical quality standards are met. 

  • Effectively utilising and checking work undertaken by others on Amtec and/or Hevacomp, IES, Microsoft office and other software. 

  • Reviewing and commenting on information provided by the client and other members of the professional team. 

  • Reviewing and commenting on information provided by contractors/sub-contractors and providing a written report on their compliance with the design and specification. 

  • Attending and contributing to design team meetings, client meetings, pre-contract and post-contract meetings.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified and having completed several projects from inception to competition.

  • Preferably a graduate with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in building services design.

  • Working towards Chartered Engineer status or be chartered.

  • Possess good technical knowledge in your primary discipline of mechanical services design and have a good understanding of secondary discipline.

  • Be IT literate with a good knowledge of relevant IT packages i.e. Amtec, Hevacomp, IES and Microsoft office.
