This role is to join a dynamic multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy, providing a wide range of services across the majority of industry sectors including commercial, health, education, defence, residential and community.
Services include architecture, building surveying, building services engineering, planning, interior design, sustainability, civil and structural engineering, quantity surveying, project management, CDM and health and safety services.
About the Role
The role will involve engineering support to the practice by providing expertise in the field of mechanical and/or electrical engineering in the built environment to be included in design and project management and oversee the M&E in a Team Lead role.
Meet with clients to establish project brief, formulating sound engineering, cost-effective solutions.
Ensure designs not only meet functional requirements but are fully compliant with all relevant legislation, codes of practice, CIBSE guides, building regulations and best practice and environmentally sensitive.
Deal with statutory authorities in all matters affecting their incoming services to buildings.
Prepare budget costs for client consideration and draw up tender documentation.
Project manage site works from commencement to completion and monitor site works against specification requirements.
Carry out inspections of existing installations and submit condition reports and agree contractor final account.
Check and prepare fee Invoicing each month and meet target fees set by the Practice.
Monitor the day-to-day workload and capacity of team to deal with current and future known work streams.
Maintain an overview of the work commitments of the team and work with other teams within the business, in collaboration to ensure that best efforts are made to meet project commitments across the practice.
Recruit, manage, develop, and guide direct reports to achieve the Practice objectives.
Attend networking events to secure new business.
Ensure that time expenditure on projects is monitored on a regular basis and where overruns are incurred discuss with line Partner/Director measures to be taken, if available, to remedy.
Requirements
Degree/master’s in Engineering.
Member of the Chartered institute of Building Services Engineers and/or The Energy Institute (or equivalents).
Chartered Engineer status.
Full driving licence.
Excellent communication, problem solving and decision-making skills.
